Landscape Series - Sequoia National Park
This memory lives rent free in my mind. My husband and I were desperate to escape a pretty intense LA heatwave last summer (2024) and we were craving cooler temps. We decided to drive up to the Sequoias, neither of us had been before. We loaded the dogs, packed our camp gear and made a reservation for a campsite that seemed mellow. We arrived mid-day and it was absolutely perfect, quiet and cool with lots of shade and trees. At this point in our lives, we’ve perfected camping, the meals, the drinks, the games, the passtimes, all of it. The days were spent dipping in lake water and the nights were huddled around the camp fire talking. One evening we decided to go to a viewpoint we’d seen on the map that was supposed to have 360 views. Wow, yes, mother herself provided the most epic views and sunset. The sky went through so many color iterations that night and this was snapped with my film camera walking back down to the car.
About the Limited Series:
A collection of postcards from my own travel roll, this series is deeply personal. These blurred snapshots are from my life and travels and span over the last 10 or so years of exploration. With this graphic treatment, they become more about blended colors and textured blurs and become these soft ephemeral scenes.
Nature continues to be a North Star in my practice and I’m so happy to share these exploratory views.
