Landscape Series - Portland
I hesitate to take you all here, but this was peak Covid. Shit was dark and we were loosing our minds. We couldn’t go to our studio and we clung on hard to our local outside space, Mt Tabor, a godsend. Spring was in full swing and I can’t tell you how many little mental health walks we went on. Anyway, thank goodness for my dog, he got me out and about and noticing all the flowers in bloom, a peak into the normalcy of new blooms. On one of our walks to Tabor, I was floored by these side of the road Tulips. I loved that nature could show up so beautifully and graphically and colorfully. It lit a little match in a dark mental room. And in a time that felt so secluded and weird and scary, it was a breath of fresh air to be lost in this flower for a moment.
About the Limited Series:
A collection of postcards from my own travel roll, this series is deeply personal. These blurred snapshots are from my life and travels and span over the last 10 or so years of exploration. With this graphic treatment, they become more about blended colors and textured blurs and become these soft ephemeral scenes.
Nature continues to be a North Star in my practice and I’m so happy to share these exploratory views.
