Landscape Series - Grand Teton
Ok it’s actually incredible that this made it in the mix because we’re really going back in time for this one. TEN years ago, we went on a road trip (I’m realizing I’m with my husband in almost every single of these trips and that’s stinkin’ cute) across the country, in our car, for I believe 3 weeks. This was the trip we got engaged on. While making our way to Yellowstone, we stopped in Jackson, Wyoming for breakfast. While eating, we struck up a convo with our waitress and asked if she had the day off, what she would go do and ended up telling us about Phelps Lake. So we took her advice, had no idea what we were doing, how long it would take, and hiked into the lake in search of a cliff you could jump off of into the water. We eventually found our way and made the choice to watch a few locals do it first to figure out where they were jumping and then took the leap ourselves. This wasn’t on our itinerary, but always reminds me that being open to steering off-course can bring incredible experiences. I also think it’s hilarious that this is a photo of flowers, but the memory is somehow embodied in them. The mind is mysterious.
About the Limited Series:
A collection of postcards from my own travel roll, this series is deeply personal. These blurred snapshots are from my life and travels and span over the last 10 or so years of exploration. With this graphic treatment, they become more about blended colors and textured blurs and become these soft ephemeral scenes.
Nature continues to be a North Star in my practice and I’m so happy to share these exploratory views.
