Landscape Series - Downtown LA
Believe it or not, this view is from our front patio. There are many evenings and sunsets spent on this patio watching the world slowly move. It’s such a unique view of the buildings downtown because they’re so perfectly spread out. We moved to East LA in 2021 and feel incredibly lucky to look out over the city, watch colorful sunsets, and also experience the madness that is firework season. Throughout the year, what’s really special about this view is you can visibly watch the sun move its way across each season. In Spring it’s super far to the right and then makes it’s way to the left for summer. In Fall, there’s a couple days where the sun sets directly between two of the buildings. I feel really thankful to be a part of this city, it’s been a hard year but having the ability to gather friends around this view feels essential to human connectivity and one of a kind.
About the Limited Series:
A collection of postcards from my own travel roll, this series is deeply personal. These blurred snapshots are from my life and travels and span over the last 10 or so years of exploration. With this graphic treatment, they become more about blended colors and textured blurs and become these soft ephemeral scenes.
Nature continues to be a North Star in my practice and I’m so happy to share these exploratory views.
