Using form, texture and color, this bespoke 3D-printed clay capsule is the artist’s inaugural exploration into this new technology. She continues her practice of airbrush techniques, layering colors, playing with negative space and using the repetitive lines of the printed clay to her advantage.
Each piece was printed in Snowmass, Colorado and brought back to Los Angeles to be given one-of-a-kind surface treatments.
The polarizing landscapes of these two locations mimic the contrasting ideologies of this hand-crafted medium mixed with this robotic technology. Conceptually, this is a space that Bradley leans into and plans to continue to leverage.
Bradley uses intuition to direct and inform each object’s graphic personality, making every vessel of this exploration a one-of-one. In digital 3d printing, 𝙂-𝙘𝙤𝙙𝙚 is the programming language used to instruct a 3D printer where to move, how fast to move, and what path to follow. It is made up of coordinates that follow the X, Y, and Z axes. The G in .gcode stands for geometric.
